Privacy Policy
ThisHome is a home discovery service. This policy describes what information we collect when you use the ThisHome website and iOS app, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and how to delete it.
Information we collect
- Account information. Email address, display name, and a password (stored only as a cryptographic hash) when you create an account. Guest use requires no account.
- Device identifier. A random identifier created on your device the first time you use ThisHome. It is not your advertising ID and is not derived from your hardware.
- Guest activity becomes account activity. If you browse as a guest and later create or sign in to an account on the same device, the guest activity from that device becomes part of your account so your recommendations carry over. This is stated on the registration form before you submit it. Guest data is kept while the guest profile is in use; guest profiles with no activity may be removed after a period of inactivity.
- Activity. The homes you view, save, pass, love, and hide; searches and filters; pages you open; tour, question, and contact requests you send.
- Stated preferences. Preferences you set directly and free-text descriptions you choose to submit so we can interpret what you are looking for.
- Locations you add. Commute destinations you provide, such as a work address, used only to compute travel times to listings.
- Notes. Private notes you attach to saved homes. They are visible only to you.
- Payment information. Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your card number.
How we use it
- Personalization. Your activity and stated preferences build your Signature — a taste profile that ranks homes for you. The Signature page shows what the system has learned and why, and you can clear interpreted preferences at any time.
- Operating the service. Signing you in, syncing across your devices, showing your saved homes, delivering requests to listing contacts you choose to reach.
- Analytics. Understanding how the product is used so we can improve it. We do not use your data to track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not sell it.
- Fairness screening. Text you submit and text we generate are automatically screened to prevent housing recommendations from being based on race, color, religion, sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity), familial status, national origin, or disability. ThisHome supports the federal Fair Housing Act and the Texas Fair Housing Act.
AI processing
ThisHome uses machine-learning systems to interpret your descriptions, analyze listing photos, and rank homes. These systems work from your activity and stated preferences, their conclusions are shown to you with explanations, and their inputs and outputs pass through the fairness screening described above. AI output is informational and can be imperfect — verify anything important independently.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that host our infrastructure, process payments, provide mapping and travel-time data, and run AI models on our behalf, under agreements limiting their use of your data to providing the service.
- A real estate agent, only when you choose one. If you connect with an agent through ThisHome, that agent can see the activity needed to help you, such as homes you saved.
- Listing contacts you message. A tour, question, or contact request delivers the details you enter to the relevant listing contact.
- Legal requirements. When required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Retention and deletion
You can delete your account at any time. In the iOS app: Account tab → Delete account. On the web, contact us at the address below. Deleting your account removes your profile, contact details, sign-in sessions, notes, commute destinations, stated preferences, and taste profile, and permanently disconnects your remaining activity from you — the account cannot be recovered or re-linked.
Two categories are retained after deletion: interaction records that have been anonymized so they no longer identify you, and records connected to real estate transactions that brokerage regulations require license holders to keep for a set period (in Texas, 22 TAC § 535.2). Payment records are retained by Stripe as required by financial regulations.
Your choices
- Use ThisHome as a guest without creating an account.
- View and edit your preferences, and clear interpreted preferences, on the Signature page.
- Delete individual saved homes, notes, and commute destinations at any time.
- Delete your account as described above.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional legal rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. Contact us to exercise them.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored only as cryptographic hashes. Session credentials are stored hashed on our servers and, on iOS, in your device's Keychain.
Children
ThisHome is not directed to children and is intended for users 18 and older.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you in the product.
